Empire Fields Pump Track - Hastings Park, Vancouver, BC (2014-2015 with regular maintenance)

Pump Tracks

In 2011, Jay was contacted by PFS Studio – a Vancouver based planning, urban design and landscape architecture firm, to develop a bike skills facility design concept as part of the Hastings Park / PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) Master Plan which sought to transform the fairgrounds into a greater community establishment, greenspace and year-round destination. Jay collaborated with PFS Studio and consulted with the Vancouver Dirt Jumping Coalition to garner input and suggestions for junior and senior pump tracks.

In 2014, with plans underway to implement the Master Plan, the City of Vancouver called on Hoots to construct the bike skills facilities. The pump tracks were completed in spring 2015 and located adjacent to the busy sport and recreation fields. On any given day, you can find a gathering of riders alongside friends, family and folk, enjoying the pump tracks, surrounding wood skills components, and naturalized features providing for a fun, engaging and attractive recreational venue.
