Inter River Bike Park, North Vancouver, BC (2012 build; 2017 renewal)

Skills Parks

Inter River Park provides the perfect backdrop for a Bike Park with Nationals level BMX race track, surrounding soccer fields, baseball pitches, lacrosse arena and connecting trails that offer access to Seymour and Grouse Mountain. The history of the bike facility goes back to the initial 2012 design-build, then redevelopment in 2017.

The initial multi-year planning and development process combined the North Vancouver District, Hoots, NSMBA and NS BMX clubs working together to create a 2 acre Bike Park to replace decrepit asphalt tennis courts with progressive Dirt Jumps and Wood Skills Technical Training areas.

Local community association and neighbours were invited to project presentations with design requests submitted by the clubs and Hoots then taking on management and build roles to complete the Bike Park in 2012 with funding from grants, ‘in kind’ donations, local business and District involvement, alongside hundreds of club volunteer hours.

The bike facility saw lots of use over the years and over time, came up for renewal in 2016 where Hoots was sub-contracted to help in redevelopment working with King Kubota Services Ltd. and the District, and liaising with NS BMX and local riders. The intermediate - advanced dirt pump track was completed along with paved junior pump track, start hill with rock ramp and practice drops in 2017.
