Sprockids & Keats Island Bike Parks + Trails, Sunshine Coast, BC (2004 - 2012)

Skills Parks | Trails

Jay Hoots relationship and support for the mountain bike community on the Sunshine Coast goes way back to 2004 with Jay & Norco Performance Bikes, and as lead instructor for the Mountain Bike Operations Program at Capilano University where students got hands-on training and involvement in local trail development.

Bike recreation facilities include Sprockids Mountain Bike Park and Keats Island Skills Park alongside the Sprockids Mountain Bike Trails offering invigorating and challenging off-road riding experiences in the unique and natural terrain of the area.

Over the years, Jay worked closely with Doug Detweiller – founder of Sprockids and IMBA helping build and support the Bike Parks and Trails, and contribute to the local mtb scene. Of the 14 km plus of riding trails, several were built by Cap U students under Jay and co-instructor Daniel Scott’s guidance. These include intermediate downhill trails such as Doug’s Detention, Pineapple Express and Check Minus with mix of XC, Flow and TTFs (technical trail features) which are continuously updated through the Coast Mountain Bike Trail Association (CMBTA) and riding community.
