Lantzville Pump Track & Skills, Vancouver Island, BC (2018)

Pump Tracks

In winter 2016, the District of Lantzville connected with Jay Hoots to assess the potential for a bike skills facility to be housed in the local Rotary Park. Jay visited the Town on several occasions meeting with staff and reviewing the project site to design a skills park that would compliment and integrate with the existing playground and recreation space.

Built over fall 2017 and spring 2018, the Bike Park was developed in 2 phases working around delays from wet weather and re-directing drainage. The completed facility includes a beginner to advanced dirt pump track with transition platforms and start deck; and accompanied by surrounding beginner to advanced wood-rock skills balance features. Wide platform bridges across the existing swales provide naturalized access points connecting to the surrounding park area and outlying trail.

The facility offers a nice addition to the community, and opportunity for riders to engage, practice and hone their skills within a quaint park setting.
