Parkallen Pump Track - Ellingson Park, Edmonton, AB (2018)

Pump Tracks

Over 2016 - 2017, the Parkallen Community League (PCL) connected with Jay for redesign and redevelopment of the existing pump track in Ellingson Park. After proposal approval, Hoots prepared detailed design and construction drawings for a revitalized track facility based on meetings, site review and community input garnered by the PCL.

In 2018, Hoots hit the ground to create a super fun pump track circuit with start decks at north and south, and connecting rides lines with integrated rollers and berms. The decks provide gathering area and viewing platform that enable for speed and momentum, while the inner & outer track loops provide opportunities for beginner to advanced users to experience natural flow and progression as they explore the different ride options from one line to another.

Working with the existing facility and parameters of the project site, Hoots implemented sustainable design and building practices using existing site materials to raise the track base, alongside additional clay based material, and finishing up with 3 compaction cycles to fully set track and confirm drainage with follow-up ride testing to ensure pump track flow and fun!
