After 4 years, the Hoots crew returned to Aldergrove Bike Park in 2024 to dial in the Jumps area and worked with the Town to re-establish drainages. All organics and debris were cleared, and jump lines reshaped and compacted to bring them up to their performance intent. The Start Hill was also expanded for improved access into the beginner-intermediate lines, and all features including unique return berm and rollers were tested and fine-tuned to optimize rider experience!
Meanwhile over the last while, the Town has been bringing in their carpentry team and re-purposing wood from the downed trees to repair and renew the wood skills features. Planning is now in the works for 2025 when Hoots Ltd. will return to revitalize the mini Bmx track and wall ride at the south.
Background to the Bike Park goes back to 2010, when Jay coordinated with the Township to carry out public consultation for detailed design of the facility with a local general contractor undertaking construction. Following up in 2018, Hoots Ltd. was called in to reboot and update the facility, and engage with local riders.
Integrated within the greater Aldergrove Athletic Park, the ~1.5 hectare Bike Skills Park is surrounded by baseball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts and community garden with nearby residences, community centre and high school. A popular go to, riders of all ages and abilities continue to enjoy the facility with variety of features including start / return hill with entry drops, progressive jump line series and wood skills components with elevated complex, alongside Bmx mini 4X course.
