The Bike Park is now complete with final features, finishing touches and signage program implemented in fall 2023. Efforts go back to 2016 when members of the local Speed Demons XC Mtb Riding Club presented to City Council with a vision for a Ride Training Centre. Located in a 120 acre park reserve surrounding the Cold Lake Museums, a recreation sports facility was proposed for year-round activity and race events that would support local business and tourism.

Presenting successful Bike Park examples in the region and public survey results in support, the Club also shared preliminary concepts developed by Jay when the group reached out for help and guidance. In the ensuing years, Hoots developed detailed designs with expanded Bike Park and Trails, and suggested infrastructure. Then in 2018, Hoots worked with the Club and City to facilitate an Open House for the Cold Lake Trails & Bike Park Master Plan with construction starting the following year.

From 2019 - 2023, the Hoots crew worked with volunteers to build beginner to advanced cross-county riding and multi-use trails, and extensive Bike Park over multiple phases. The latter including integrated Start/Return Hill with progressive drops, junior and senior Pump Tracks, Jump Lines, Wood-Rock Skills Zones with ground features and elevated North Shore Balance Area & Complex, Flow Trail with wall ride, and Expert Jumps with wood take-off ramps.

Riders and the community continue to enjoy the Bike Park and year-round trails, with thematic way-finding signage that complements the Cold Lake Museums and natural setting!
