Skills Parks

In 2017, the City put out a request for design-build of a Bike Skills facility at South Bear Creek Park, redeveloping from the existing BMX track site and expanding on the multi-use trail network. Following award, Hoots and NAK Design Strategies collaborated with the City to host an open house and garner input to select and shape preliminary concept designs presented by Hoots with comprehensive Bike Park, dirt jumps, pump track, skill features and trails for all ages and abilities.

From meetings, survey and feedback from the City, local clubs, riders, park users and the public, Hoots prepared a detailed design package over winter-spring 2018 while funding, sponsorship and donations were secured.

Construction began in summer 2018 integrating with the site, making use of local resources and natural materials, and working closely with community and volunteers. The completed Bike Park includes start / return hill with spectator landing, progressive jump lines, multifaceted pump track, and wood skills balance area. Connector trails were also built around the Bike Park, woods and open areas with optional wood skills riding features.
