SFU Bike Park - Burnaby, BC

{alt_text}

In 2013, Jay was contacted by UniverCity - an affiliate of Simon Fraser University’s Community Corporation and Community Trust that brings together stakeholders and representatives to help improve and shape sustainable community and greenspace development. Known as Parcel 24, Jay was asked to create a temporary bike park in land allotted for mixed-use development in several years time.

Jay consulted with UniverCity to develop a bike park concept that catered to all ages, skill levels and abilities with construction to take place following the winter. In spring 2013, Hoots completed the bike park facility, with an additional advanced – expert jump line built in 2014.

The facility is popular with riders, students and folks from the community and surrounding area constantly coming to check it out, ride and explore the various components. The bike park is located centrally with adjacent shops, residences, campus buildings and transit node providing for a bustling environment. With future development scheduled, UniverCity is currently looking to other sites within the SFU area to relocate and re-establish the bike park as a legacy project that the community can continue to enjoy.

Check out the action links showing local rider shredding and the Hoots crew sessioning and test riding the bike park features and components in 2013!
